Getting Your First Suit?

Look out for these 3 things!

Fashion is an ever evolving space and the rules keep changing. But when it comes to Suit you have to keep certain points in mind:-

Go for the classic:

For your first one, we would recommend you a notch lapel, 2 button, two-piece suit, preferably in the traditional black, blue or grey shades. Not to be all conservative and traditional, but we recommend so because a suit isn’t just a regular piece of clothing, it’s a memory of lifetime, especially for those who do not have to wear it regularly.

It’s a legacy that you can pass on to the next generation, just like Goyard bag for women or Patek Phillipe watch for men. It’s applaud-able if you can carry pastel or neon shades, or prints or jacquards in your first suit; in fact we encourage so, but for Your First Suit, we recommend you to choose something that is timeless.

Fabric matters:

Put in some effort to learn about fabric types and construction. If possible go for wool, it’s the best fabric option for suits. The higher the ‘Super S’ counts, fabric becomes more soft and also high priced. If you want animal-friendly options, you can look for linen, corduroy, velvets, tweed, etc. Go for fine structures. Some polyester blend is fine if you want to wear it daily so as to avoid wrinkles. And lycra stretch would also be recommended if it’s for daily use.

Pay close attention to the color depthness , fall of the fabric and whether its breathable or not.

Fit is the king:

Not just for the first suit, NEVER compromise on the fit. A Rs 50,000 suit is worthless if it does not fit well. A Made-to-Measure suit will fit you well and will also be heavy on the wallet. A ready to wear suit will come in variety of designs and will be readily available to you. Check how shoulders fit when you choose RTW. If you find a brand or a suit that fits you well, there’s no need for MTM unless you only desire personalization.
